Cohen joins 'Heart' cast for Sears Centre show

Figure skater Sasha Cohen, who recently announced her comeback to Olympic competition, will make her first televised skating performance in "Skate for the Heart,'' Sept. 19 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

The taped show will air on NBC, 3-5 p.m. Jan 31, 2010, less than two weeks before the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Can.

Cohen, the Olympic silver medalist at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, will perform, along with reigning world champion Evan Lysacek of Naperville and 2009 Ice Dancing World silver medalists Ben Agosto and Tanith Belbin, to help generate awareness of heart disease.

Sponsored by Disson Skating, "Skate for the Heart," will have live performances from Jordin Sparks, Charice, Honor Society and KSM.

Other Olympic, world and national figure skating champions will perform, including 2009 U.S. champion Alissa Czisny; 2009 U.S. pairs champions Rockne Brubaker and Keauna McLaughlin; 2009 U.S. bronze medalist Caroline Zhang; 2008 U.S. national champion Mirai Nagasu' three-time U.S. national champion and 2008 world bronze medalist Johnny Weir; and 2009 U.S. national champion Jeremy Abbott.
