We don't want to pay for abortions
I attended the town hall meeting in Arlington Heights for Congressman Kirk. I was able to ask the congressman a question on President Obama's health care plan very important to a huge segment of the American people. Polls showing a 70 percent plurality of citizens, both pro-abortion and pro-life did not want to be forced to pay for other abortions. And why not! We do not pay for a paper for everyone, or buy them a computer. But without a clear amendment stating that Obama's proposed plans will not include Government funding of abortion, that is what we will get. The Hyde amendment that has served us so well will be overturned, and the destruction of the unborn greatly expanded.
Although at present, all proposed plans do not include the word abortion, the stealth that Obama has become so adroit at kicks in as follows: He has chosen Kathleen Sebelius, past governor of Kansas, to be chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee. As chairman, Sebelius will pick the members of her committee. If you don't believe she will pick those who will support abortion in any health care plan, you must still be writing to Santa Claus. The committee will decide how to interpret the words "reproductive health care."
The good news for me, and for many millions of unborn children to come, was Mark Kirk's answer to my question, "Would you sign any Health care bill that did not clearly prohibit citizen paying of abortions?" Kirk, not pro-life be any means, answered with the 70 percent, "No I would not sign any law that included federal funding of abortion,"
Also, thanks for an outstanding job by the Arlington Police and Village officials in hosting this event. First class in every way.
