Mundelein man gets 2 years for resisting arrest
A Mundelein man was placed on probation for two years Monday after pleading guilty to resisting arrest in his own home.
Associate Judge George Bridges also ordered Allen Murray, 45, to pay a $500 fine.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Brett Henne said Murray called 911 around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 to request assistance for an injured family member at his house in the 500 block of Bonniebrook Avenue.
When police and paramedics arrived, Henne said, Murray ignored several commands to sit down and stop interfering with the emergency personnel.
Murray swung his elbow at Officer Rachel Scheltz, causing her to strike her head on a wall while avoiding Murray's swing. As he was being placed in handcuffs, Murray also threatened to kill Officer John Sturlini, Henne said.
Henne said Murray could have faced up to three years in prison if he had been convicted after a trial.
