Oak Grove vacancy:

Oak Grove School District 68 is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the school board created with the resignation of Peter Jenkins, whose term expires April 2011. Interested candidates should submit a resume and a letter detailing their interest to Oak Grove School Board of Education, 1700 S. O'Plaine Road, Green Oaks, IL 60048. The deadline is Sept. 14. Jenkins served on the board for seven years. He resigned due to time commitments of a new job and a desire to spend more time with family. He was chair of the board's programs and technology committee and was influential in the school's major technology upgrade last year.

Property tax chat:

Lake County Treasurer Bob Skidmore and Chief County Assessment Officer Marty Paulson will answer questions on property taxes and assessments during a live chat beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The event will be Webcast at lakecountyil.gov and broadcast on LCTV, Comcast channels 18 or 30 or AT&T U-verse Channel 99. E-mail questions to communications@lakecountyil.gov and the experts will try to answer them during the program.

Library interviews set:

The Cook Memorial Public Library District board will interview candidates for a vacancy on the panel tonight. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the Laschen Center, 294 Evergreen Drive, Vernon Hills. Five candidates are set to be interviewed. The discussions will be done privately and could take about 30 minutes for each candidate, officials said. The vacancy on the Libertyville-based board was created this summer when Aaron Lawlor resigned to take a seat on the Lake County Board.
