Northwest suburban police blotter

Arlington Heights

• Vandals poured light blue paint on a green 2006 Scion XB in the underground public parking garage, 35 S. Evergreen, between 2:15 and 4 p.m. Aug. 24. The paint covered the roof, hood, windshield, front bumper and a driver's-side door.

• A white man in his 40s hid at least nine pairs of eyeglass frames valued at $1,800 in his shirt at LensCrafters, 450 E. Rand Road, between 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12. The theft was seen later on security video footage.

• Burglars stole a GPS valued at $200 out of an unlocked 2000 Mercury Mountaineer in an apartment lot on the 2100 block of South Tonne Road between 4 p.m. Aug. 25 and 6:15 a.m. Aug. 26.

Buffalo Grove

• A landscaper's 1997 Ford Explorer was stolen from the 1000 block of Auburn Lane the afternoon of Aug. 21 when he left it with the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition.

• Vandals broke the windshield, scratched the hood and removed the hood ornament to a 2003 Mercedes-Benz overnight Aug. 20 on Villa Verde Drive.

Rolling Meadows

• Dariusz J. Zgorka, 42, of the 560) block of Carriageway Drive, Rolling Meadows, was arrested and charged with retail theft after loss personnel at Meijer said he removed two bottles of Polo cologne ($93.98 total value) from their packaging and placed the bottles in his front pants pockets. His next court date in Oct. 8.

• Thieves took a beige and maroon Mongoose brand bicycle left unlocked mid-afternoon Aug. 24 outside a store in the 3000 block of Kirchoff Road.

• A resident in the 2400 block of Rohlwing Road heard a loud noise about 2 a.m. Aug. 24 and found the windows smashed on his 2007 beige Ford Escort and a vehicle speeding away.

• Thieves removed two 50-pound concrete lawn ornament geese worth $100 from a front yard in the 2300 block of Kingfisher Lane Aug. 11-23.

• A custodian for Willow Bend School, 4700 Barker Ave., reported vandals broke three light covers ($300.00 value) on the lights in the parking lot Aug. 23-25.

• Thieves removed an Apple I-phone ($450 value) and a diamond ring ($600 value) from an apartment during a get-together Aug. 22 in an apartment in the 5400 block of Astor Lan.
