Man charged in stabbing at Aurora park

A 20-year-old Aurora man was charged with one count of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery for a Saturday night knife attack on a romantic rival in a park on the city's west side, police said.

Authorities arrested Alejandro Chavez Duran, 20, of the 300 block of North Park Avenue shortly after they found 18-year-old Adolfo Ramirez with stab wounds to the chest at Jaycee Park, 500 North Park Ave, Sgt. Marie Blincoe said.

Police had been called to the park about 8 p.m. in response to a fight, which had apparently escalated from a fist fight over Duran's ex-girlfriend, Blincoe said.

Ramirez, of the 1300 block of Monomoy Street, was treated at Provena Mercy Hospital for what police called nonlife-threatening injuries.
