What's wrong with good benefits for all?
Reader Paul Arnot (July 25) is incensed that the president of a teachers union has spoken out in favor of single-payer, universal health care coverage.
This teacher enjoys decent health benefits, and he has the temerity - the gall! - to suggest that everyone else should, too. Outrageous!
This slaggard wastrel, living off the sweat of the taxpayer, dares to propose a measure that would reduce the cost of education. Subversive! How dare he think about anyone except himself! How dare he imply that private health insurance is simply a racket to enrich corporate executives!
It's obvious we are dealing here with one of those degenerate government-lovers! And what's that shadow lurking darkly in the background, rubbing its hands with glee? It's President Obama! The incarnation of evil! Unions! Obama! Mr. Arnot is sure he sees the devils who are destroying our dear country. Personally, I think Mr. Arnot is seeing things.
