Scouting report: Chicago Sky (14-15) at New York Liberty (11-17)
Chicago Sky (14-15) at New York Liberty (11-17)
When: 3 p.m.
Where: Madison Square Garden
Recent results: On Friday at the UIC Pavilion, the Sky beat the Liberty 96-77.
Skinny: It might not seem like much could change for these teams in two days but the complexion of today's game could be different if the starting centers suit up. On Friday, the Sky played without Sylvia Fowles, who sat out her fourth straight game with a sprained left ankle. She averages 12 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. New York center Janel McCarville (12.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg) was sitting out with the same exact thing - a sprained left ankle. On Friday, the Sky jumped out to a double-digit lead and then watched as New York cut it to 2 points. But instead of surrendering the lead for good as it has in so many recent games, the Sky regained control. The Sky got a career-high 25 points out of reserve guard Kristi Toliver, which helped make up for the absence of Fowles. Candice Dupree added a game-high 26 points for the Sky, which played some of its best defense of the season on the Liberty. The Sky has five regular-season games left and is tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East with the Detroit Shock.
Next: Washington Mystics at Sky, 7:30 p.m. Friday
