Constitution should be the only agenda
With lightning speed our national leaders are abandoning the fundamental principles upon which the United States was founded.
I question whether most presidents, congressmen and judges have even read or attempted to follow the U.S. Constitution, which by the way they swore to defend, uphold and protect.
Consider the following short list of unconstitutional actions. If anyone doesn't know why they are unconstitutional, it's time to read the document.
1. Establishment of the Federal Department of Education
2. No Child Left Behind Act
3. The president fired the head of a major manufacturing company and appointed his replacement.
4. The president gained control of the banking system, essentially nationalizing it.
5. The president plans, like Robin Hood, to confiscate the wealth of the prosperous and transfer it to the non-prosperous (remember Joe the Plumber).
I have yet to see any leader invoke the Constitution and urge the correction of these actions or threats.
I had hoped that after the election of 2000, they would begin to roll back the unconstitutional activities of the federal government. Those hopes were dashed to the ground as Democrats and Republicans continued to ignore the ConstituÂtion.
Neither appear capable of putting aside personal and party interests to govern the country according to the limited powers provided in Article I, Sect. 8.
As Thomas Jefferson said, they need to be "bound down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution." However, there doesn't appear to be anyone in authority today who knows how to enforce the U.S. Constitution and stop the "mischief."
