Accused former coach undergoing sex offender evaluation

A former youth bowling and baseball coach from Lombard accused of videotaping three teenage boys showering during a camping trip earlier this month in Lee County is undergoing a sex offender evaluation ahead of his arraignment next month.

Robert L. Lauesen, 46, is facing several child pornography charges stemming from his Aug. 9 arrest. The boys found a videotape of themselves showering in a camper owned by Lauesen and called police, authorities said.

Lauesen was slated for an arraignment Wednesday, but it was pushed back to Sept. 9, according to the public defender's office, which is representing Lauesen.

He remains behind bars at the Lee County jail in Dixon in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Lee County sheriff's office investigators still are going over some 20 videotapes they confiscated from Lauesen's Lombard house during an Aug. 11 search, Sgt. David Glessner said. Nothing seen on the tapes has warranted further charges, he said. Investigators also confiscated a laptop computer.

Lauesen had coached bowlers of all ages for nearly 30 years and youth baseball in Lombard for close to two decades. He has no sex-related offenses on his criminal record.

The Lee County sheriff's office is asking anyone with any information about past contact with Lauesen to call Glessner at (815) 284-5225.
