Young fans must be chaperoned at Batavia football games
The Friday night Batavia High School football games might be the social events of the fall for local grade- and middle-schoolers.
But there are a few new rules young spectators will have to obey when the Bulldogs host St. Charles North at 7:30 tonight:
• No elementary or middle school students will be admitted without an adult chaperon.
• Students must stay with their chaperones throughout the game. Middle-school students may also sit in a special middle-school section, located near the south end zone.
Those who don't obey this rule might be asked to call a parent or guardian to arrange for supervision or a ride home.
• Students who misbehave may be referred to their school administrator for discipline, which may include restrictions on attending high school games and events.
• Skateboards, footballs and bikes are not permitted and will be confiscated.
• Chaperones are asked to limit the number of students they are overseeing, to ensure they can "effectively direct acceptable behavior."
Batavia is not the only high school to have rules for younger spectators. St. Charles District 303 requires students to enter with a chaperon, and that the chaperon stay in Norris Stadium.
