Driver crashes into Round Lake Beach post office

No serious injuries were reported after a 60-year-old woman drove her car into the U.S. Postal Service facility in Round Lake Beach at 1:48 p.m. Saturday.

Round Lake Beach Police Officer Paul Grace said the woman, a village resident, told authorities she tried hitting her car's brakes but somehow it jumped a curb and struck the building on Municipal Way.

Grace said no tickets were issued and the post office wasn't open when the woman drove into the brick building, causing an unknown amount of exterior damage.

Grace said the woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
