Skinny: Here's a twist: On Friday, the Sky waived its highly coveted free-agent pickup Chen Nan (back injury) and re-signed forward Mistie Bass, who spent the preseason with the Sky. Bass is the daughter of legendary singer (and twister) Chubby Checker. With center Sylvia Fowles dealing with injury after injury this season, the Sky needed another body in the post and Nan was not healthy. After sitting out the Phoenix game with a sprained ankle, Fowles should be back tonight. Don't be fooled by the Shock's record or its three-game losing streak. Detroit is the defending WNBA champion and boasts one of the best backcourts in the league in Deanna Nolan and former Ohio State star Katie Smith. The Sky has been getting excellent production from its reserves. Against Phoenix, Shyra Ely had 26 points and Kristi Toliver 22 points.
