Man accused of assaulting disabled girl
CAHOKIA -- Authorities say a 28-year-old Cahokia-area man being held on $300,000 bond is accused of sexually molesting a wheelchair-bound 11-year-old girl.
St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputy Gerald Brown says Marvin J. Burries of unincorporated Cahokia was apprehended Wednesday at the victim's home, where her family was holding him by force.
Brown says Burries had been living with the family.
Burries is charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child -- a class X felony.
While being questioned by deputies at the sheriff's office in Belleville, Burries reportedly tried escape from the interview room by jumping out of a second-floor window, but was prevented by investigators.
