Sky waives Chinese center

The Chicago Sky has waived center Chen Nan and resigned forward Mistie Bass.

Nan reinjured her back, according to Sky general manager and coach Steven Key, and doctors recommended she stop playing and training immediately.

Nan, a 6-foot-6 rookie, averaged 12.3 minutes per game, 3.7 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game through her first 26 games in the WNBA. She will remain in Chicago to follow a 3-4 week rehab program in hopes of playing for the Chinese National Team in the fall.

To fill Nan's roster spot, the Sky signed Mistie Bass, who appeared in three Sky preseason games, averaging 4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Bass, a 6-3 forward, played for three seasons with the Houston Comets, averaging 2.9 points per game in her career and 2.2 rebounds per game.
