Exelon ramps up LaSalle reactor to full capacity

Exelon Corp. ramped up the LaSalle 2 reactor in Illinois to full capacity from 47 percent yesterday, according to a report from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The unit returned the unit to service Aug. 19 after workers replaced a faulty computer software circuit card, Adam Slahor, a company spokesman, said in a statement earlier this week. The unit shut automatically when the turbine generator tripped.

The unit is one of two at the LaSalle station, 75 miles (121 kilometers) southwest of Chicago. LaSalle 1 is operating at full capacity, according to the commission.
