Camera argument defies logic

Elk Grove Village Mayor (and others) cites safety as the reason for the red light cameras. So following that logic, if a driver comes to a complete stop, but cannot see if it is safe to proceed (because a car or truck on the left is blocking the view), it is safer to not pull up over the white line to get an unobstructed view, than it is to have the view blocked?

Really?

Please stop insulting our intelligence and fix the system or drop it.
