Storms thunder through the suburbs
Strong storms wreaked a bit of havoc on the suburbs Wednesday evening.
Tornadoes were seen shortly after 6 p.m. in Rutland Township and near I-90 in Huntley.
At Route 64 and Hansen Road in Lily Lake near Elburn, a tree was struck down in the middle of the street.
Around the same, Mundelein firefighters reported that a home was struck by lightning, though they could not provide immediate details.
Showers and thunderstorms began working their way through northeast Illinois late Wednesday afternoon at about 45 miles per hour, according to the weather service.
