Quinn: I'll take U of I trustees' resignations

SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. Pat Quinn says he hasn't been officially notified that four more University of Illinois trustees are willing to resign, but Quinn says he'll take those resignations if he gets them.

Quinn has been urging the six remaining trustees to step down for more than a week. Three others have already quit.

A state panel Quinn appointed recommended that the trustees should go amid allegations that political clout was used to get less qualified students into the school.

Quinn says he'll review the situation once he gets the paperwork from the four trustees, who offered their resignations Tuesday but said they'd like to retain their positions and help the university mend its admissions system.

On Wednesday, Quinn didn't commit to doing anything about the two trustees who haven't offered to resign.
