Buffalo Grove village president to run for 59th state house seat

Buffalo Grove Village President Elliot Hartstein announced Tuesday he intends to run for State Representative in the 59th District.

Hartstein said he will seek the appointment to the vacancy created by the resignation of Democrat state Rep. Kathy Ryg in the 59th District, and intends to ask the appointing political committee for the district to consider him for Ryg's unexpired term.

He added he will also seek the nomination to be the Democratic candidate in the 59th in the Feb 2010 primary.

Hartstein is in his third term as village president of Buffalo Grove having been elected in 1999. He served as village trustee for six years prior to winning election to mayor.
