Aurora police commander retiring
An Aurora police officer who worked his way through the ranks to commander is retiring after 24 years.
Support Services Cmdr. Raymond Parks officially steps down Friday.
Parks was sworn in as an Aurora officer on Aug. 5, 1985, after several years as an officer in Plano. He went on to be a vice and narcotics investigator and served in supervisory roles in patrol, special operations, and as a night watch commander.
He is a graduate of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Management Course.
