Publish more about public meetings

The editorial on loss of transparency was very thought provoking.

How can we better support transparency? What is a best practice model for local government transparency?

What are the other towns and villages doing? How can we together achieve this important goal.

The newspaper can support this by continuing to publish information when these meetings are taking place and covering what decisions were made at these meetings. This will enable the citizens to be better informed and educate themselves on what type of questions that can be raised and need to be answered at future meetings.

Utilize the local government Web sites to update all village, school and park district meeting minutes. Post all meeting agendas so that the citizens can plan to attend the meetings to discuss concerns on these government issues.

Government officials can do a better job with citizen involvement. This will give them the ability to make the best decisions for the communities.

The more transparent these meetings and decisions are, the more the citizens will be able to see how these decisions impact the financial well being of our businesses, towns and villages. We all need to support transparency for the improved operations of our local governments.
