Naperville woman says doctor sterilized her

A Naperville woman who underwent a Caesarean section while giving birth earlier this year at Aurora's Rush-Copley Medical Center claims in a lawsuit that her doctor sterilized her without permission.

The suit filed Aug. 7 in Cook County on behalf of Nada Dollah claims Dr. Nizar F. Olabi performed the "unauthorized sterilization procedure ... against her will and without her consent." The woman gave birth in May, according to the suit.

She is seeking at least $3 million from Olabi, the hospital and Women's Health Physicians of Aurora where Olabi works. She also is seeking to have her attorney's fees paid.

Olabi's attorneys did not return phone calls Monday seeking comment.

A spokeswoman for the hospital said Rush-Copley does not comment on pending litigation.

Olabi has never been disciplined by the state since receiving his medical license in 1996, according to the Illinois Division of Professional Regulation.

No future court date has been set.
