Cop: 2 bodies found in downstate home

STAUNTON -- Authorities in Macoupin County say they don't suspect foul play in the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in a home's basement.

Thirty-two-year-old Derek Allen and 29-year-old Robert Bowden of Springfield were found dead Sunday morning in the Staunton residence where Allen was living.

Coroner Brad Targhetta says autopsies failed to pinpoint what caused the deaths, and that he's awaiting the results of tests that should determine if alcohol or drugs played a role.

Staunton is about 35 miles northeast of St. Louis.
