Body of drowning victim pulled from Kaskaskia

NEW MEMPHIS -- Authorities pulled the body of a man who drowned over the weekend from the Kaskaskia River in southern Illinois.

The body of 58-year-old William McCaw of Highland was found Monday in the river in Clinton County, near New Memphis.

McCaw disappeared Saturday evening while swimming with his grandson and another relative.

Searches proved fruitless Saturday and Sunday, but Sheriff Mike Kreke says McCaw's body was found about a mile downstream Monday.
