C'Ville's Chaz Ortiz grabs skate crown at Dew Tour stop in Portland
Chaz Ortiz, the 15-year-old skateboarder from Carpentersville who rode to the top of the charts in 2008, picked up a victory Saturday night at the Wendy's Invitational in Portland, the second stop of the Dew Tour.
Ortiz' victory in Skate Park competition vaults him into first place in the overall Dew Tour standings for the year, with one more tournament stop left in his attempt to win back-to-back Dew Tour championships.
Ryan Shecker, still hurting from a broken foot at the X Games, was unable to compete. Chris Cole finished second to Ortiz and moved into second place in the overall standings as well. Paul Rodriguez Jr. finished third.
