Cameras finger the car, not the driver

My daughter received a right turn violation at a camera intersection in Elk Grove Village. The car was registered to me. The $100 ticket was issued to me. I called the village's red camera hotline to inquire as to how my daughter could contest it. I was told that I, as the registered owner, would have to contest it. I asked how can I contest something when I wasn't even there. I was told that didn't matter. I was responsible since the car is registered to me. Does this make any sense?

I feel this is a violation of my rights. If I do something wrong and get stopped by a police officer, I get the ticket, not my car. I can pay the ticket or go to court to state my case. This is my right and choice as an American citizen. But now with these cameras, it doesn't matter who is driving, the registered owner gets the ticket. Now try going to court to state your case when you weren't even there? Chances are you will lose.

So how does one fight City Hall? You stop spending money in these towns. I used to enjoy going to restaurants and the show in Elk Grove Village. I will now spend my money elsewhere.
