Getz goes on disable list as Sox recall Lillibridge
The Chicago White Sox have placed infielder Chris Getz on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to Aug. 12) with strained oblique and recalled infielder Brent Lillibridge from Class AAA Charlotte.
Getz, 25, is hitting .267 (83-311) with 17 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 28 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 89 games with the White Sox in 2009. He ranks among the American League rookie leaders in hits (1st), multihit games (1st, 25), runs scored (2nd, 43) total bases (2nd), doubles (3rd) and RBI (3rd).
The 6-foot, 185-pounder suffered the injury Tuesday at Seattle. Lillibridge, 25, was batting .252 (62-246) with 3 homers, 24 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 67 games with Charlotte this season. He has made 49 appearances at shortstop with the Knights, 18 in center field and one at second base.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder has appeared in 26 games over two stints with the White Sox in 2009, going 11-68 (.162) with 4 stolen bases and 7 runs scored.
