Central Ill. father admits killing 15-month-old son

BLOOMINGTON -- A 22-year-old Bloomington man will face up to 45 years in prison after admitting he killed his young son in 2008.

George Autman pleaded guilty to murder Thursday in McLean County Court in the May 2008 death of 15-month-old Antwan Liddell.

Under a play deal Autman will be sentenced to 20 to 45 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 3.

Autman told authorities he hit his son to discipline him after the boy hit his 3-year-old sister. Autman initially told emergency room doctors the boy fell while choking on a sandwich.

Antwan died at a Peoria hospital of what the Peoria County's Coroner's Office said was a brain injury due to blunt force trauma.
