Suffering from Obama overkill

I agree with Donna Brazile that President Obama is everywhere, on every newspaper, magazine cover and news program. And I am more than just "fatigued" with this excessive coverage. In fact, last month I chose to not renew my 25-year subscription to Newsweek for that very reason.

In my letter to Jon Meacham, Newsweek's editor, I said that I had told my family, "If there is one more cover with Obama, I will cancel my subscription." And I did.

Where I disagree with Ms. Brazile is her implication that we need to "leave the Obamas alone." It is clear that the Obamas are relishing their celebrity. How many photo shoots have they done for how many magazine covers? How many prime time news conferences has Obama had? How many talk shows? How many infomercials? He even butted in to Robert Gibbs' daily press briefing recently for even more attention on the Gates controversy.

No, we don't need to leave the Obamas alone. They need to leave us alone.
