Kirk won't appeal to Republicans statewide
Congressman Mark Kirk was the only Republican in the state that voted with the Democrats on their Cap and Trade Bill (American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009).
I'm 77 years old and a lifelong Republican and admit that I have never voted for Mr. Kirk. But, I have always resisted the urge to vote for his Democrat opponent. No longer. I will vote for any Mark Kirk opponent and urge my family and friends to do the same.
Mr. Kirk can probably get away with his vote with lakefront Liberals. But, not with Republicans statewide if and when he runs for the U.S. Senate. This bill that proponents claim will "save the planet" and give us "green jobs" will only drive up energy cost, further damaging our economy. By the way, Democrat Congressman Bill Foster of Batavia had the good sense to vote against the bill. That's more than you can say about Mr. Kirk.
