Preschool of rock: Wiggles coming to Rosemont

All right, parents, here's your chance to indoctrinate your preschool kids into their first concert experience, as the Wiggles make one of their periodic stops in the Chicago area. From there, just add 10 short years and a little attitude until you're squiring teens to Lollapalooza.

"The Wiggles! Go Bananas Live!" is at 1:30 and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16, at the Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. River Road, Rosemont. Tickets range from $18 to $38, available by calling (800) 745-3000.

These women rock

New York punks Blondie, with frontwoman Debbie Harry, wouldn't have been caught dead with Pat Benatar back in the early '80s, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and now they're out on tour together, with Benatar on top of the bill. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" indeed.

Pat Benatar and Blondie play at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Ravinia, 418 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Seats are $55, lawn tickets $16 ($5 more on the day of the show) available by calling (847) 266-5100 or visiting ravinia.org.

But these rock more

For women who rock with a little more vitality, however, try the Pretenders next week, not least of which because Chrissie Hynde has the confidence to follow challenging openers Cat Power and Juliette Lewis. Here's hoping the middle slot keeps Cat Power's Chan Marshall focused. The venue was just downsized from the Aragon Ballroom to the more intimate Vic Theater.

The Pretenders, Cat Power and Juliette Lewis play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Vic Theater, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago. Tickets are $44, available by calling (312) 559-1212 or at ticketmaster.com, or avoid service fees at the box office; call (773) 472-0449 for details.
