Irish wideout Kamara undergoes knee surgery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame wide receiver Duval Kamara will miss several weeks of practice after undergoing arthroscopic surgery Tuesday on his right knee.

Irish coach Charlie Weis said doctors found "rough" cartilage when Kamara underwent an MRI on Monday. Weis said Kamara, who started nine games last season, is expected to be ready for the season-opener against Nevada on Sept. 5.

Cornerback Darrin Walls sat out practice Tuesday with what Weis called a tweaked hamstring. He is expected to be out several days.

Defensive tackle Hafis Williams, who has not yet practiced, is expected to be cleared Wednesday. Weis has not said Williams was out.
