Gasification test facility opens

DES PLAINES - Gas Technology Institute commissioned an Advanced Gasification Test Facility, a five-level process research building that houses pilot-scale gasification and gas processing systems in Des Plaines. This new lab, supported in part by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, bolsters capabilities in advanced energy development. The facility enables processes that improve production and delivery of power, chemicals, and gaseous and liquid fuels. A tour of the new AGTF facility, the only one like it in the U.S., will be Sept. 18.
