Hersey grads to hold class reunion

Zoppé Family Circus coming to Maryville

Maryville Academy's Junior Board will be hosting the Zoppé Family Circus on Maryville Academy's main campus in Des Plaines Aug. 21-23, according to Joseph Roque, president of the Maryville Academy Junior Board.

"The Zoppé Family Circus is a great entertainment value and a terrific 'end of summer' outing for the kids before school starts," he said.

The circus features aerial acts, clowns, horse and dog. No pets will be allowed.

There are shows at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday; 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5:30 pm.. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults ($20 at the gate) and $10 for children ($15 at the gate). Children three and under are free. Proceeds benefit people served by Maryville Academy.

United Way Day coming to track

Northwest Suburban United Way's annual Day at the Races event will be from 12:30-4:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at Arlington Park's International Room. Proceeds event will benefit 29 communities in the agency's Northwest region.

The event includes silent auction items, wine raffle, split the pot raffle, Fancy Hat and Hawaiian Shirt contests. Sponsorships will include the "Winner's Circle" that includes premium table seating and a winner's circle group photo.

Firefighters collect for muscular dystrophy

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department's "Fill The Boot" campaign to aide the Muscular Dystrophy Association in its fight against the disease will take place at the following dates and locations:

• Friday, Aug. 21, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road.

• Friday, Aug. 28 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Dundee Road and Buffalo Grove Road.

• Saturday, Sept. 5 from 8:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. before the Buffalo Grove Days concert.

• Sunday, Sept. 6 1 p.m. during the Buffalo Grove Days Parade.

• September 3-7 at the Buffalo Grove Days First Aid tent.
