Flames' Mayo signs deal to join French pro league
Former UIC guard Josh Mayo has signed a contract to play for the professional basketball club Stade Clermontois of the French Pro-B league.
Mayo, who also played at Merrillville High School in Indiana, reports to camp in France on Thursday.
"I'm excited to get over there and get going," said Mayo. "I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life."
Mayo ended his four-year UIC career in March as a two-time All-Horizon League First Team selection, and the school's fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,718 career points.
Mayo is the second member of the Flames' 2009 senior class to sign a professional deal. Former teammate Scott Vandermeer signed with Swiss club BC Lugano in late July.
