A legislator to take back Illinois
As a political science student at a small college in the suburbs, I am no stranger to the political happenings of "pay to play" politics or the missteps of politicians who are always looking for the next palm to grease. I believe the people of Illinois are tired of this kind of system and are in desperate need for someone who can inspire hope, while providing a good example in the Illinois legislature, of not only clean politics, but progressive thinking.
It was with these thoughts in mind I found a man who embodies everything that Illinois currently wants and needs. State Rep. Mike Boland of Moline is someone who can stem the tide of political corruption, a man who can take back Illinois. Not only has Mr. Boland been serving Illinois for more than 15 years as a legislator, he also advocated for the needs of Illinois' children as an educator for many years. He has sponsored or co-sponsored some 77 bills within the legislature.
Many of these bills were designed to bring about change and progress within the state. Dozens of bills written to help the state of Illinois become green, by reducing energy consumption and by providing good clean, green jobs. Many politicians do not take the initiative to create an even-greener Illinois.
I was also impressed with the amount of attention that was paid to Illinois schools. As a student, this is especially important to me, I see the affects of the educational system every day. I paid particular attention to the proposed Illinois Challenge Scholarship program, championed by Boland. It is within this scholarship, students of need will be able to attend one free year of community college, all the while, refusing to siphon the money needed from the state budget.
