Scouting report: Chicago Sky (x-x) at Detroit Shock (7-11)
When: 5 p.m.
Where: The Palace of Auburn Hills
Recent results: On Saturday, the Sky DEFEATED/LOST TO the Atlanta Dream, ??-??; on Friday, Detroit lost to the Washington Mystics, 70-66.
Skinny: And to think that just last summer the Detroit Shock won the WNBA championship. It's been much different this year. The Shock sits in sixth place (out of seven teams) in the Eastern Conference with just 7 wins. Injuries, and even a suspension, have wreaked havoc on the Shock's rotation as Plenette Pierson (shoulder), Cheryl Ford (knee) and Kara Braxton (suspension) have all missed time. To top it off, Bill Laimbeer left his post as head coach in mid-June. Deanna Nolan (14.6 ppg), Katie Smith (13.5 ppg) and Taj McWilliams (10.2 ppg) have been the glue holding the Shock together. This is the Sky's first meeting with the Shock this season. The teams face each other four times over the next five weeks.
Next: Sky at New York Liberty, 6:30 p.m. Friday
