Villa Park woman charged in burglary

A 28-year-old Villa Park woman has been charged with residential burglary, police said. Alma S. Vielma, of 139 E. Vermont, was stopped Aug. 4 after police said she ignored railroad crossing signals.

While checking her identification, police learned she was wanted on three separate arrest warrants issued in Chicago, Kane County and DuPage.

When she was taken into custody, police found she was in possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and syringes.

Investigators later discovered she was responsible for a number of residential burglaries in Villa Park and Lombard.

She was charged with one count of residential burglary but further charges may be coming as the investigation continues, police said.
