Pedestrian hit by train in Bartlett
An outbound Metra train near the Bartlett station struck a pedestrain Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The condition of the man was unknown as of press time. Milwaukee West Line train No. 2223 left Chicago's Union Station at 3:30 p.m. Around 4:45 p.m. it hit a pedestrian in Bartlett, Metra spokesman Michael Gilles said.
Paramedics from the Bartlett Fire Protection District arrived and the man was found lying approximately 150 feet east of the intersection of the railroad tracks and Prospect Avenue, said Bartlett Batallion Chief Mike Clarke.
The man was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. No further information was released about the pedestrian or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The train, which was scheduled for a 4:58 p.m. arrival at Big Timber Road station in Elgin, remained stopped on the track east of the Bartlett station for more than an hour. .
