Woman fatally shot outside strip club

BROOKLYN -- Authorities are investigating a shooting outside of a southwestern Illinois strip club that left one woman dead and a man critically injured.

Illinois State Police say the 24-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were shot inside a car early Tuesday as they left the Pink Slip nightclub in Brooklyn.

Their names have not been released.

Police say both victims were dropped off at a St. Louis hospital about 5 a.m. The woman later died of her injuries.

The Poplar Street Bridge was closed for about 20 minutes during rush hour as police investigated the shootings.

Illinois State Police and the Brooklyn Police Department are conducting the investigation. No suspects are in custody.
