Storms knock out power across central Ill.
CHAMPAIGN -- Powerful, fast-moving storms have cut power to more than 29,000 homes and businesses in central Illinois and covered much of the region in dusk-like darkness.
Ameren says the power outages were concentrated Tuesday morning around Lincoln, Pekin and Taylorville. Several thousand power customers were also in the dark between Decatur and Champaign.
The National Weather Service says the storms include heavy rain and high winds.
Authorities in Champaign County reported power lines and tree branches down in many locations. Authorities in Lincoln reported similar problems.
The weather service says more storms are possible in central Illinois through early afternoon and again Tuesday night.
