Frock Swap to benefit Community Crisis Center

A group of Elgin women are organizing a "Frock Swap" on Thursday, Aug. 6 to benefit the Community Crisis Center in Elgin.

This is a chance to turn in your gently used clothes, shoes or bags, suitable for women, ages 13 to 30, and get some tickets, and early access to the Frock Swap event. You can redeem your tickets for some other fashionable donations. Clothing will all be scrutinized according to guidelines, and you can bring up to 10 items total.

The clothing drop-off will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3; 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 4; 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Elgin Academy's Sears Gallery, 350 Park St., Elgin.

The "Frock Swap" will on Aug. 6 will start with a swapper shop from 6 to 8 p.m. If you don't have anything to give up, you can still come shop from 8 to 9:30 p.m. using cash to purchase. Admission is $10, with proceeds going to Community Crisis Center. Food, beverages and water will also be sold.

For the swap, they will accept fashions desired by young women ages 13 to 30 including: dresses, suits, skirts, pants, jeans, shorts, blouses, shirts, non-promotional tees, jackets, coats, handbags and gently worn shoes and boots. They will not accept lingerie, pajamas, underwear, tights or socks.

All items must be of good quality and condition, clean and freshly laundered - no stains, holes or missing buttons - if items are torn or frayed it must be part of the style of the item and not a defect. Jewelry and bridal gowns will be accepted as donations to be sold, but not swapped. Credits will be issued for every item accepted. Credits will be assigned based on the type of item and is at the discretion of the Swap Staff. Credits then can be used at the Frock Swap on Thursday, Aug. 6. Any credits not used on Aug. 6 will be forfeited.

You will also be able to buy your entry ticket when you drop-off your swap items which will entitle you to receive a raffle ticket for one of the door prizes including a day of beauty at Karena's Salon & Spa.
