UI clout panel meets ahead of report deadline
The commission examining the influence of political connections on admissions at the University of Illinois is meeting in Chicago as the deadline nears for its report to Gov. Pat Quinn.
Illinois Admissions Review counsel Ted Chung says that, unlike previous meetings, no witnesses are scheduled to testify Friday morning.
Instead, he says commissioners have scheduled time to discuss their investigation. He isn't sure just what they'll talk about.
The commission is supposed to present its report to Quinn by Aug. 8.
Commission Chairman Abner Mikva has said this week that all of the university's trustees should resign. One, Lawrence Eppley, stepped down Tuesday.
