Aurora man charged with sex crime

Aurora man charged with sex crime: Jose Chavez, 21, of the 100 block of North Avenue, Aurora, was ordered by a Cook County judge Thursday to be held on $75,000 bond on the charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Prosecutors said in court that Chavez sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl, whom he knew, in Palatine in 2005. The alleged victim did not notify authorities about the incident until this month, prosecutors said. Chavez's next court date is scheduled for Aug. 19.
