Arts are in bloom in Buffalo Grove

Thanks to 152 artists coordinated by Amy Amdur Productions, a very vital and active Village of Buffalo Grove staff, dedicated Village President Elliott Hartstein, our hard working trustees, 83 enthusiastic volunteers and thousands of residents, our eighth annual Buffalo Grove Fine Art Invitational was yet another resounding success.

The weekend was filled with community involvement and talent, and all you had to do was walk through our Town Center to know that this was a very special place to be.

Deputy Village Manager Ghida Neukirch, Arts Commission liaison Carol Berman, Susan Levy and countless other village staff worked with the outstanding team of Amy Amdur Productions to synchronize the two-day festival using all of our community resources.

It is a huge "Rubik's Cube" that ends with all colors in harmony as the devoted arts commissioners, Residents for Disabilities Commission, emergency management, public works, police department, fire department and of course, our fabulous volunteers, ensure the success and safety of all of the festival attendees.

Buffalo Grove was named in Money Magazine as the 65th best community in the United States to reside, specifically mentioning our Art Festival.

We have nationally recognized schools and an award-winning park district with programs for residents of all ages.

We have a commitment to the arts in our community with a children's theater program, a summer musical, an adult chorus, a vocal traveling ensemble, a Symphonic Band, and a newly formed Jazz Band.

The Arts Commission runs two very popular programs for our youth to perform entitled, "Little Limelight" and "Limelight Café." We have public art initiatives and will be introducing yet another program next May entitled, "Bloomin' Buffalo Grove" which will be an Arts Day encompassing music, art, food, and community involvement.

Let's be proud of all that this village has accomplished and continue to work together upon this tradition of artistic community involvement!

Many thanks to all who supported our festival, and if you are interested in volunteering for the Arts Commission, we welcome your ideas and assistance.

Linda Rosen, chairwoman

Buffalo Grove Arts Commission
