Driver's condition still critical after Bartlett crash

An Elgin man remains hospitalized with injuries suffered in a two-car crash Friday in Bartlett.

Christopher J. Musatto, 38, is in critical but stable condition at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, hospital officials confirmed Sunday.

Police said he lost control of his 1971 Ford Mustang, which was headed eastbound on Lake Street, crossed into the westbound lanes of Lake Street near Old Lake Street around 8 a.m.

The Mustang was then hit on the passenger's side by a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 27-year-old woman from South Elgin, before heading into a ditch on the north side of the road.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Police said Sunday they have nothing new to report in the investigation of the crash.

Officials said alcohol was not a factor and that both drivers were wearing seat belts.
