Lake County's big festival offers food, fun and 4-H

The 81st Annual Lake County Fair opens Tuesday, July 28 and runs through Sunday Aug. 2 in its new home at Peterson and Midlothian roads in Grayslake. Here's what you need to know:

Hours

Gates open: 8 a.m. daily

Expo Center hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, Aug. 1; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2

Midway: Noon to 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, Aug. 1; noon to 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2

Note: Livestock barns close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2

Cost

Adults 13 and over: $10; season pass for $35

Seniors 65 and older: $5

Active military with ID: $5; in uniform, free

Children 5-12: $5; season pass for $15

Children 4 and under: Free
