Suttie, Sones rank highest on top golf teachers list
Dr. Jim Suttie of Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont tops the 2009 list of best golf teachers in Illinois published by Golf Digest.
Three college coaches and suburban golf instructors in Vernon Hills, Mundelein and Wheaton also cracked the list to determine the top instructors in the state, with Todd Sones ranking second overall.
In order to determine the top teachers in each state, Golf Digest sent over 1,000 ballots to teachers that allowed them to judge each other on a scale of one to 10. Each state's rankings represent a proportion of that state's total amount of instructors relative to the total teaching population of nearly 20,000 throughout the United States.
Northern Illinois men's golf coach John Cleary was ranked ninth overall in Illinois, with Northwesternmen's golf coach Pat Goss at 10th and Illini men's coach Mike Small at 14th.
