Why show graphic posters to children?

The route my 11-year-old and I took through Naperville on a recent Saturday unknowingly took us through extremely graphic images of post-abortion fetuses. I later heard the group sponsoring the protest was supposed to have posted warnings of the images but my route to Ogden Avenue did not take me past any of them.

What is the sense in showing those banners where such young children will see them?
